Almond, walnut and hazelnut crackers
Ingredients:
1 cup ground almonds
½ cup ground hazelnuts
½ cup ground walnuts
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon salt
Preparation:
In a bowl, mix the three types of nuts, the salt and oregano. Stir well. Then, pour in the melted butter, olive oil and water. Mix with your hands until all the crumbs are evenly buttered and stay in a compact mass, when pressed between your fingers.
The resulting “dough” cannot be rolled out as a normal pastry. You just have to dip it into a square baking dish (about 20-22 cm, greased) and flatten it with the palm of your hand to a 5-6 mm thick pastry. Pre-cut square crackers with a knife.
Bake at 180°C until golden brown (15-20 minutes). Cool completely before cutting the nut crackers following pre-cut contours. You can serve them as a light snack or as an accompaniment to a veloute soup, salad or fresh fruit. These crackers can be made with other nuts as well.
