My grandmother’s donuts
Ingredients:
Flour
2-3 eggs
1 cup yogurt
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
Oil
Preparation:
Put the baking soda in the yogurt, stir and let rise. Whisk the eggs in a deep bowl, pour in the yogurt. Then gradually add the sifted flour. Add as much flour as necessary to obtain a semi-thick but still liquid pastry (such as a velouté soup).
In a pan, heat at least 1 cm of sunflower or rapeseed oil. Pick a tablespoon of dough and dip it into the oil. Repeat this several times until you fill the pan. Fry the donuts on medium heat and return when one side is golden. Transfer the ready donuts on a piece of paper towel to remove excess fat.
Serve the donuts almost immediately, garnished with feta cheese, honey, jam or sugar.
