Dried fruit Christmas bites
Dried apricots, prunes, cranberries and dates (pitted)
Almond marzipan (different colors)
Sugar for finishing
Other seeds (almonds, Brazil nuts, pistachios)
This French-style Christmas dessert is very easy to prepare and tolerates all sorts of interpretations. The most common version is to split prunes, apricots and dates lengthwise and fill with almond paste. Or, to form a ball of the almond paste and flatten it from both sides with walnut halves.
Preparing such bites for last Christmas, I add some ingredients. I wrapped some of the bites in coarse sugar, others, I decorated with nuts and dried cranberries.
These bites can be made several days in advance and stored in an airtight container.
Serve as a light Christmas dessert.
